Vybz Kartel

Corey Todd has declared Dancehall artiste Masicka is ready to take Vybz Kartel’s throne.

A few eyebrows were raised on Wednesday after the entertainment mogul Corey Todd took to Instagram to declare his artiste, Masicka, ready to seize Vybz Kartel’s throne as king of the Dancehall.

In a now-deleted post, Todd, who was also formerly Vybz Kartel’s manager and business partner, shared a screenshot of the “Worl Boss” projecting the “Young Genna” to become a ‘worthy opponent’ by 2020.

“Hope them free him so @masickamusic can take the crown this the lyrical war people need everything else a joke. I don’t care what people say my contribution towards the current king is undeniable no matter how many people want to act like I didn’t change dancehall or help him to a next level,” Todd declared.

“I told all of Jamaica a new king would rise so please free him and get your popcorn ready cause I hope him ready and we not wait for 2020. if them free him tomo we bring the war to him footstep a him call for it,” he added.

Todd’s statements seemed to shock a number of fans, as they took to social media questioning the motive behind promoting such a rivalry with both artistes on good terms.

The move seemed a bit strange to many, as the two Dancehall superstars have frequently declared their respect for each other, even collaborating on the 2017 smash single “Infrared.”

However, fans are now speculating that there could be some issues between the two camps as Todd went on to say “FYI we never begged or asked him for a song or paid him and all idiots out there who think infrared buss Masicka u are sadly mistaken this tweet he sent was way before that song Masicka wave was there real and undeniable so who was the real wave rider.”

Todd would go on to declare his tremendous respect for the “Worl Boss,” proclaiming him as the ‘best to ever do it,’ but then warning that his deejay was now fit and ready to take the throne.

“Don’t get this wrong I respect his artistry to the highest level and know he’s the baddest to ever to do it but just like I knew who he was when I heard him the same feeling I had when i heard @masickamusic so that’s why I know he can take it,” Todd said.

Although the declaration may have simply been Todd trying to instigate some healthy rivalry between the two it seems most fans were just not here for it, as many took to social media to criticize the businessman.

“Sigh. We not ready for that. Kartel got the crown but Masicka is the youngest general,” one fan wrote, while another complained “Corey stop this why you a push Masicka to war Addi when them are friends like seriously ??? You are out a sight, out a mind and you want to be remembered 💯Them a mi fave so I will never support a war between them.”
