A 23-year-old man who is accused of murdering a family member of International pop superstar Rihanna faced the court for the first time on Wednesday in Barbados.

The man, Shawayne Dashawn Williams made his first court appearance earlier this week since being charged with the shooting death of Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, who is a cousin of the Barbadian singer.

According to police reports, Alleyne was shot dead while walking home on December 26 last year.

The incident prompted the pop superstar to take to social media expressing her grief and pleading for an end to gun violence.
