Mental illness is real and Jamaican entertainer Ce’Cile is using her platform to bring awareness and offer support.

On Saturday, the “Life is so precious” singer gave motivation and advice to fans battling depression.

“This is for whoever needs to hear it. If you are feeling depressed you are not alone,” Ce’Cile said. “Everybody has a time when things go wrong and sometimes we get to a low dark place (MYSELF INCLUDED) You can be amongst people yet you feel alone, you can be loved yet you feel unloved, you can have money and be sad.”

“You can have clothes yet you don’t want to go out. Please please talk to somebody, let it out. There is no reason to feel ashamed. It can be something simple to others yet so huge to you, it could be relationship issues, sexuality, religion, family, or, job, pressure from society/ social media to be a certain way or to keep up a certain lifestyle or NOTHING, maybe you don’t even know.”

“I’m not an expert on this but too many people are struggling with something for me to post only pretty pictures and nice things about my life all the time when the reality is sometimes life sucks for me too. Luckily I’ve grounded myself in humility, spirituality, I try to gauge my emotions and I no longer care about certain things like I used to nor the opinions of the world.”

“I read books that uplift me and I’m learning to love myself unconditionally (many times we reserve that love for OTHERS) I stay close to a small set of people who I can talk to about my feelings and I write my feelings on paper. I cry, crying is ok I think. Don’t Keep it bottled up inside of you. TALK TO SOMEBODY. If you ever feel down enough to think about taking your life DM me.”

“I’m sure being there for someone can be therapy for me too. I wanted to post the ?? suicide/ mental issues number but I called it and after 14 rings and two tries I decided I will post it another time when I’m sure it works. This is for anyone, anywhere going through anything.”

“PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. Hold on to whatever it is that gives you hope, whether FAITH, GOD, whatever religion works for you, if it’s THERAPY, if it’s LOVE, MUSIC, or THE BEACH, find it and hold on. If you want to read some uplifting words please google the DALAI LAMA. Blessings be with you all. Please be kind to people, a smile and a kind word can literally save someone. (I do only post pretty pics I keep the ugly ones to myself but I do have those) ?❤️,” she continued.

Ce’Cile’s post was well received by social media users, many Jamaicans even reached out to her via direct message (DM). The singer promised to reply to everyone.
