Just days after Spice’s online beef with veteran entertainer Beenie Man following his statements related to the rightful “Queen Of Dancehall”, Jamaicans have spoken.
In a recent poll conducted in Jamaica with Dancehall fans, the overwhelming majority shared that Spice should be the new female heir to the throne.
“She [Spice] is the only consistent female artist in dancehall right now if you check the stats, the rest just do something and stir controversy to get attention today and then you don’t hear nothing from them for weeks, they lack consistency and creativity,” one fan wrote while another added, “Pree the thing nuh, from Muma [Lady Saw] turn Christian a Spice alone a run the thing, she deserve the crown.”
Many also revealed that Beenie Man should now be officially dethroned as they say Vybz Kartel is worthy of the prestigious title.
“Right now the rasta bwoy [Beenie Man] time up yo, Worl Boss [Vybz Kartel] a run the place,” one fan wrote. “While Beenie is foundation, things and time change, Dancehall has a new sound so it deserves a new face.”
