Dj Nicco has declared Vybz Kartel and Ding Dong as “Gawds” of Dancehall.

According to the popular disc jock, Vybz Kartel has become such a dominant force within the Dancehall that it doesn’t matter what changes occur he is always the top artiste.

The former FAME Fm deejay claims that despite Vybz Kartel’s incarceration he still manages to control the flow and pace of the genre, always dictating where it goes next.

“New Kartel, old Kartel, it doesn’t matter. From a dancehall, Kartel own it. I say this, not only as a fan and someone who respects Vybz Kartel in the highest degree, but as someone who studies the music and travels the world playing and listening to what is happening in the culture of Jamaican music,” the disc jock said in a recent interview.

The selector also went on to heap praises unto Ding Dong, who he labeled as the “Gawd” for the dancing sub-genre of Dancehall. Claiming the deejay has carved out his own unique lane and is completely dominating it.

Nicco was however hesitant to compare Vybz Kartel to other musical greats such as Bounty Killer and Beenie Man, claiming that they both legends in their own category.
