Queen Carlene

Dancehall Queen Carlene is looking to celebrate Dancehall in a big way.

For years stakeholders have complained that Dancehall is being pushed aside in favor of foreign influences. According to some, the powers that be have shown more support to soca and hip hop than our own culture.

However, it seems at least one person is determined to change this trend. The original Dancehall Queen Carlene recently launched a road march for Dancehall, with hopes of making it the next big thing.

The launch for the march took place last Thursday at 6 Cargrill Ave, House of Dancehall. The star-studded event saw appearances from many Dancehall stars sporting their authentic ‘dancehall’ attire.

Some of the popular faces included; Marvin the Beast, Nikki Chromaz, DHQ Sher, Shelly Belly and many more. It also featured modeling from many persons including Carlene’s very own daughter.

Fans were treated to a special preview of the various outfits that will be available for the road march.

According to Carlene, although the format will take the shape of a road march, it has nothing to do with Carnival. She says the march is simply a celebration of the unique culture of Dancehall. She hopes it will ultimately provide an outlet for growth, by providing fans a platform to express themselves.

The move has been met with favorable reviews from fans on social media, with many commending the entertainer.

Dancehall Queen Carlene is one of the icons to emerge during the 90s. During her heyday, Carlene was seen as one of the pioneers of Dancehall’s outlandish fashion. She shared a very high profile relationship with Beenie Man.
