Dancehall superstar Spice has revealed that she turned down the opportunity to close Dancehall night of Reggae Sumfest last Friday.

The female lyricist, who has been dubbed the new “queen of the Dancehall” thrilled fans once again as she delivered an exhilarating performance on Friday night leaving many to question why she wasn’t considered to close the show.

The “Gum” deejay, however, revealed that she was indeed offered the opportunity by organizers to close the annual Reagge festival but chose to pass on the chance as didn’t believe she was ready for that role as yet.

According to Spice, the timing was not ideal. The entertainer says she is not opposed to accepting the challenge and would consider it in the future if she is given the opportunity, but for now, she is just not ready.

On Friday night the female superstar gave fans yet another awesome performance as she hit the stage in her “Wakanda” attire, which was inspired by the blockbuster movie Black Panther.

Spice says she chose to use the African theme for her performance to send a positive message to every strong black woman around the world.

The deejay has enjoyed a very successful year, releasing multiple singles as well as appearing on the hit reality TV show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.
