You can’t go wrong with Vybz Kartel and Alkaline when keeping an event.
Promoters say the Dancehall heavyweights are good for business. Over the past few years, Vybz Kartel and Alkaline have dominated the Dancehall scene with a consistent supply of bangers.
Despite being incarcerated for the last eight years, the Worl’Boss is still on top of the genre thanks to his work ethic and loyal Gaza Nation fans. While Alkaline managed to make a name for himself since making his way on the Dancehall scene back in 2009.
Vybz Kartel and Alkaline’s longstanding rivalry pushed Kingston-based promoter Ian ‘Container Boss’ Miles to create an event ‘Alka-Vybz’ to satisfy both their massive fan base.
“When their music is played, persons are always comparing them, and at an event, you can always expect an encore,” Miles said.”We are capitalising on these deejays by innovating an event that caters to both fan bases, giving them each a space to enjoy themselves in a competitive way rather than violently.”
Alka-Vybz’s next staging is set for May 11 in Kingston. The popular party is also held in New York and will make its Florida debut next month.
