Vybz Kartel is calling out the appeal court for privy council delays.

A couple days ago, Attorney Bert Samuels told the Jamaican Star, that he felt there was a flaw in the process of appeals in Jamaica, “I am asking you permission to appeal against you,” he stated, revealing the conflict in the Court Of Appeal having to approve a request for an appeal to a higher Court against itself. Samuels also mentioned that his team is already in contact with UK Based lawyer who are already prepared for the case.
lawyers Isat Buchanan, representing Kartel, John Clarke, representing Jones and St John; and Bert and Bianca Samuels made an official request to take the case to the Privy Council around 6 weeks ago. Even now, the Jamaican Court Of Appeal as not responded after the apllication was sent on June 29 via a video link.
Samuels stated that there is nothing that is going to stop him from getting his clients’ case to Privy Council, even if he has to seek special leave.
Vybz Kartel has been incarcerated since September 2011 after him and his group were sentenced to life imprisonment in 2014 for the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams and will be qualified for parole in 2046 if his conviction stands. Kartel’s comment was directed at the DPP’s office and displays that even tho he is getting impatient, he is extremely confident that his sentence will be overturned after it is heard by the Privy Council.
