A section of the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre, which houses Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel is currently on fire.
Witnesses saw smoke coming from the downtown Kingston maximum security correctional facility, formerly known as General Penitentiary Wednesday afternoon and immediately called authorities.
Firefighters are currently fighting the blaze that is threatening to spread throughout the institution.

Tower Street houses hundreds of inmates including the ‘Fever’ deejay who was transferred from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre in November.
Vybz Kartel was sentenced to life in prison, with 35 years before being eligible for parole for the 2011 murder of Clive Lizard Williams. The incarcerated superstar will seek to overturn his sentence after being granted an appeal, which is set for February 2018.
