Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness on Saturday rolled out two Dancehall dubplates.

Social media erupted just moments after Holness announced the date for Jamaica’s 18th general election. The General elections are scheduled to be held in Jamaica on 3 September 2020, with Nomination Day set for Tuesday, August 18, 2020.

Following the announcement, several candidates released special dubplates recorded by some of our favourite Dancehall artistes to campaign virtually.

On Saturday, the Most Honourable Brogad entered the chat and dropped “Mr Universe” by Fast-rising Dancehall star Skillibeng and “Sure Sure” by Shenseea endorsing the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

Both duplates sent social media users into a frenzy as Skillibeng’s lyrics cut deep at the People’s National Party (PNP). Shenseea also caused quite a stir as she previously recorded “Trending Gyal” for Member of Parliament for St Ann South East and general election campaign chief spokesperson Lisa Hanna.
