Oprah Winfrey has been hit with a lawsuit over her hit show, “Greenleaf.”
The drama series, which was created by Craig Wright and executive produced by Ms. Winfrey, follows the Greenleaf family as they work through their scandalous family secrets and lies, all while dealing with the struggles of maintaining a Memphis megachurch.

However, a California screenwriter says the show was all her idea.

In a lawsuit filed on Thursday, Shannan Lynette Wynn and Pastor Lester Eugene Barrie say they met with Oprah’s team at OWN in 2014 to pitch a show called “Justice & Glory,” which also centers around a black family and their predominantly black megachurch.

But, the duo says that after they pitched the show, despite the positive feedback, they were told the idea had been tossed. So, when the show premiered, the two claim they were shocked that the network even “used the same character names, and copied verbatim unique and novel storylines, themes, subplots and the overall tone of the show.”

According to TMZ, the suit also claims the writing duo pitched the idea to ABC as well but were rejected. As a result, the two believe ABC worked with Oprah to rip them off.

Now, in the wake of the show’s success, the two are demanding hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.
