Producer Notnice is working hard to show the positive side of Dancehall.

For many years Dancehall has been branded as being the source of predominantly negative or lewd content. However, this perception may need to be re-evaluated following one producer’s endeavors.

Dancehall producer Notnice is showing Dancehall can be used for positive messages too.

Some fans were a little surprised to learn that the producer is responsible for the Broadcasting Commission’s latest television campaign.

The advertisement, which is geared towards positively impacting the nation’s youth, has been making rounds on social media.

The video features a male student educating his peers on the responsibilities of posting on social media.

Watch yourself pan social media when you a post … nuh do nothing too wild‘, he deejays while conveying the Broadcasting Commission’s message of ‘think before you post’.

According to Notnice, he is very proud of the project, as shows that Dancehall not just filled with negative. He says was contacted by the Commission asking him to create something relatable for a younger audience.

“It was a very good experience working on this project. It’s not the first time doing an ad, but an ad of this kind, I had to think if I should make it be a song, like supmn weh can also play in the dance, because they wanted it to be hip and modern so the kids can relate to it because it was something geared towards dem,” he said. “So I had to make the beat catchy so it can play inna parties and pan the yute dem phone.”

Since its release, the producer says he has been getting a lot of positive feedback from fans.

“It came out well and it’s well received by the masses. The clients loved it and me realise it going out there on the social media and me nuh see one bad comment,” he said.

However, Notnice went on to say that the message should not be limited to just kids, but adults also.

“It is good to start from the kids but the message is good for everyone because we adults share things weh we nuffi share and re-post things weh nuffi repost.”
