Since its release in July 27, Koffee’s new release Lockdown still keeps its number one spot.

Lockdown broke records for local artiste surpassing 1 million views in less 48 hours. Even after two weeks of its release, the new hit single is still number one trending in Jamaica, accumulating over 5.5 million views on YouTube.

In an interview with the STAR, the 20 year old singer, expresses how she has been humble by the positive response to her track.

“It’s amazing to feel so much love and support from people. I’m humbled and excited, to be honest,” she said. “When I was putting together this song, I was thinking to myself: ‘What would be the first thing I’d want to do coming out of quarantine?’ It’s been a rough couple of months globally, and so having some fun again and connecting with people again, feeling that excitement, that’s what was on my mind. I did not expect this at all, and it’s really amazing.”

Mikayla Simpson, aka Koffee, has not only transported excitement and anticipation to her fans, but also to the likes of even Vybz Kartel, which took to his verified Instagram account to express his approval with two stories.

“Koffee star! What a likkle gal bad!!!!! Lockdown a me song. Koffee I’m feeling you,” he said. The World boss dropped a few lyrics from the song, following his previous story: “Mummy me go NASCAR pull up inma fas’ car.”

The track generated even more attention, after she strategically performed the song at the end of her performance at on the Taste of Reggae Sumfest virtual concert.
