Jada Pinkett-Smith has become more vocal about her personal issues with the launch of her hit Facebook series “Red Table Talk.” Now, the actress is opening up about a topic many women and men can relate to, hair loss.

On a recent episode of the talk show Pinkett-Smith revealed that while she likes the way she looks in head wraps, Alopecia is the true reason she’s been wearing them more often.

“It was terrifying when it first started,” Pinkett explained. “I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh my god, am I going bald?”

The actress debuted a short cut in January and explained why she hasn’t gone back long.

“It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking in fear. That’s why I cut my hair, and why I continue to cut it,” she added.”

Although she admits to being terrified of losing her hair, Pinkett-Smith says she’s looking at the bigger picture.

“I really had to put it into a spiritual perspective, like the higher power takes so much from people. People are out here with cancer. People have sick children. I watch the higher power take things every day,” she explained. Looking at it from that context “really did settle me.”

As for her husband, he previously publicly supported his bae by sharing an image of her hair cut with the caption: “I love her new haircut, I had to show y’all.”

Pinkett-Smith says she has gotten multiple tests ran on her but has yet to learn the source of her hair loss. According to Mayo Clinic, there are over 200,000 cases of alopecia per year.
