Dexta Daps is mourning the death of Shabba Ranks’ mother, Constance Christie aka ‘Mama Christie’.

Earlier today news broke on social media that the veteran Dancehall superstar’s mother had passed away.

According to reports, ‘Mama Christie’ died peacefully in her hometown community of Seaview Gardens. Tributes have since poured in for the 81-year-old mother of seven, hailing her as a true cornerstone in the community.

One of the first to pay tribute was singjay Dexta Daps who popularly referenced her in his 2015 hit single “Shabba Madda Pot.”

“U r a blessing to this earth… A music Mother. A Community Mother and the mother of royalty Shabba Ranks…” He posted.

He would continue saying, “She was 1 of my 1st inspirations…As a yute growing up, ppl from my community, including myself, got to witness a different kind of courtesy… Mama C TEK CARE A YUH N NUH KNOW YUH PARENT.”

The deejay would then go on to send his condolences to Shabba and the family. “Wull it Shabba Wull It Buju Wull it Ryan n the whole family….🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 Condolences to Mama A… ik thats ur best friend… loveeeeeeee🙏🏿”

The glowing tribute was well received by fans who also took to social media to pour in their condolences.

“Me feel the authenticity in your words . Rest In Peace 🙏🙏” one fan declared. Another fan added, “😢😢😢tears fall out mi eyes jah know just reading this.condolences.”

Several other entertainers such as Kemar Highcon, Dovey Magnum, D’Angel, have also paid tribute.

Shabba Ranks, whose real name is Rexton Gordon, has frequently expressed his mother’s influence on his career. The deejay was one of seven children, including two daughters and five she gave birth to.
