Tommy Lee Sparta has been transported to St James after being arrested in Kingston on Sunday morning.

The Gothic Dancehall artiste’s lawyer, Ernest Smith, has since bashed the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). According to him, Sparta, whose real name is Leroy Russell, was whisked away to Montego Bay without his knowledge at 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Tommy Lee is reportedly being held in St James under the state of emergency powers. However Smith says, the popular entertainer has been living in Kingston for more than four years.

According to him, this is a breach of the constitutional rights of his client. He added that Tommy Lee Sparta’s recent arrest is a continuation of the harassment he has been facing for law enforcement officers.

This is the fifth time Sparta has been taken into custody in the past two years.

Tommy Lee Sparta was arrested just moments after leaving the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall finals. He allegedly stopped at an ATM in St Andrew where masked police officers with guns accosted him and brought him to the Half Way Tree Police Station.

According to reports, detectives of the Counter-Terorrism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) and the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) want to question Sparta in relation to organised crimes in St. James.
