The Management of veteran reggae artiste Major Mackerel has announced that one of the entertainer’s legs was amputated after he was hospitalised last week.

This was disclosed on the social media accounts of the 1980s Jamaican Reggae star, real name Garfield Dixon.

However, according to the post, the entertainer remains in high spirits following the procedure. The nature of the medical condition which let to the operation was not disclosed.

In 2009, Major Mackerel was the subject of a bizarre attack by a neighbour, who slashed him with a samurai sword after accusing the deejay of harassing his wife. He was slashed across the head and hand outside of his East Flatbush.
