Buju Banton’s upcoming 2019 concert in Trinidad & Tobago has received significant backlash from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LBGT) community in the twin-island republic.
According to Colin Robinson, director of the Coalition Advocating for Inclusion of Sexual Orientation (CAISO), the concert, which could see the entertainer perform for the first time following his December 8 release date, will only serve to anger members of the LGBT community.
He claims the concert is a slap in the face to members of the LGBT community who are not enthused to share their country with “Jamaican homophobes.”

Robinson did, however, seek to distance his organization from plans to prevent the Jamaican artiste from performing in T&T saying that they are unsure that Buju is even the same person mentally after spending a decade in prison.
Buju Banton is currently serving a 10-year sentence for drugs in the United States. He is slated to be released on December 8 this year.
