Shaggy has proposed that positive dialogue with youths from inner-city communities could be the solution to curbing Jamaica’s sweeping crime wave.

The multi-platinum recording artist made the suggestions earlier this week during a press conference with Wyclef Jean organized for his Shaggy & Friends charity concert, which will be held this Saturday.

According to the “Bombastic” deejay, having a dialogue with the youths from inner-city youths and educating them to the consequences of their actions could prove to be the most effective way to curb crime.

The international superstar went on to propose that influential persons such as himself, Usain Bolt and several others could be the key to reaching inner-city youths, as they originate from similar backgrounds.

According to Shaggy, they could help to relate to youths showing them the consequences of their action when they pursue a life of crime while serving as an example that crime is not the only escape from the hardships they face.

The entertainer’s proposed suggestion has been welcomed by Commissioner of Police George Quallo, who has praised the entertainer says he is looking forward to discussing the initiative with the deejay.

Shaggy’s crime plan comes on the heels of one of the bloodiest years in recent history as Jamaica recorded 1,612 murders, a spike of more than 19 per cent over the previous year.
