A Jamaican man from Trench Town, St. Andrew is being lauded on social media as a hero after saving a little boy that was washed away by a gully over the weekend.
The Tropixs understands that the unidentified man, jumped into dangerous waters to save the toddler’s life after strong currents due to heavy rain associated with Hurricane Irma began to wash him downstream.
According to a Facebook post, the man latched unto the boy and they were washed out to sea. After a search was conducted by community members found, he was found hanging on a tree branch for their lives.
Social media users are now calling on the government to award him for his bravery, the posts and video has since gone viral.
