As the Rihanna reign continues and the Fenty brand expands, a fashion brand has accused the Bajan superstar of infringement on one of their primary designs.
According to TMZ, the legal back and forth began back in January when Freedom United sent Puma a cease and desist letter over their collaboration with Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma line. In the letter, Freedom drew similarities between Rihanna’s Fenty University release, claiming the singer knew that Freedom used the FU for their items and still used “F.U.” for her launch.

As a result, the company asked Puma to stop producing the merchandise and reveal how much was made from the line. In turn, just two months later, Puma fired back with a letter of its own, denying all claims of infringement as the font is completely different on both products. In fact, according to the docs obtained by TMZ, Puma says the Fenty “F.U.” wasn’t a unique trademark, it was simply initials for the name of the line. Besides, the line is no longer being produced.
However, the explanation will not suffice for Freedom, as they still have a plan to file a suit against Puma.
