Vybz Kartel’s murder appeal continued on Friday with the prosecution presenting arguments that the judge was correct in admitting certain electronic evidence in the murder trial.

On Friday Orrett Brown, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, took to the stand to deliver his opening arguments as to why the convicted Dancehall entertainer and his co-accused should not be freed.

According to Brown, Justice Lennox Campbell was correct in admitting the cell phone evidence as there was no evidence that content taken from the device was tampered with and even if it was, that was an issue for the jury to decide.

He argued that even if the defence could reasonably argue that gaps in the evidence may raise a reasonable doubt it still doesn’t deny the fact that the evidence was admissible.

The entertainer’s defence team has spent the last four days trying to convince the Appeal Court that the prosecution’s evidence was inadmissible or contaminated.

The appeal is set to continue with Senior Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Jeremy Taylor addressing the Appeal Court.

Vybz Kartel and his co-accused Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones and Andre St John are currently trying to overturn their convictions for the August 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
