Ninjaman was sentenced to life imprisonment for his murder conviction on Monday in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston, Jamaica.
The veteran Dancehall artist, who given name is Desmond Ballentine, was given 25 years at hard labour for the 2009 murder of Ricardo ‘Ricky Trooper’ Johnson and 20 years for shooting with intent.
Judge Martin Gayle says he must serve at least 25 years in prison before he is eligible to be released.
The Don Gorgon’s co-accused, his son Janeil and Dennis Clayton were also sentenced to life in prison. Ninjaman’s lawyer, Valerie Neita Robertson says the former Downsound records artist will appeal the conviction.
