Vybz Kartel responds to rumours that he’s recording music in Prison

Incarcerated Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel is making it clear that he’s not recording new music while behind bars despite multiple rumours.

The “Round Corna” deejay was featured on Rolling Stone Magazine recently and told the publication that all his new singles were previously recorded. “I’ve always been a prolific songwriter, and I record at breakneck speed as well, so I have a lot of surplus material to choose from,” Vybz Kartel said. “There is a recording studio at another correctional facility [in Jamaica] but none here … cellphones, laptops, or any Internet-capable instrument are prohibited items,” he added.

Kartel’s comments comes days after authorities opened an investigation as rumours continue to circulate that the incarcerated deejay is recording new material and using popular social media app Instagram while serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
