Seven persons were arrested and approximately 5000 litres of gasoline during a joint police/military operation carried out at an illegal petrol outlet in Montego Bay, St James on Friday.

According to reports, security forces swooped down on a number of locations along Bay Road and Pimento Way in Montego Bay yesterday where they discovered an illegal petrol outlet with makeshift gas pumps.

Cops say they accosted several persons and seized 50 barrels of petrol as well as $200,000 at the makeshift facility.

It is reported that a number of cars that were at the illegal outlet were also seized during the operation.

Investigators say the petrol seized has a street value of approximately $750,000.
