Cardi B’s pregnancy reveal on Saturday Night Live moved Remy Ma to tears.
According to the New York rapper, the behind-the-scenes clip she saw after the SNL surprise was very touching.
On Instagram, the “All The Way Up” rapper posted a clip she’d seen of Cardi making her way off the Studio 8H stage. In the video, Cardi is beaming as the hallway erupts in applause. She throws up her hands before crowing “I’m finally free!” and turning into what appears to be her dressing room.
There are layers to those three simple words, and they struck Remy, who shared her thoughts about the industry pressures women face along with the backstage moment.
“I just woke up at 2:45am and saw this video; I’m crying real tears – happy tears,” she wrote. “For so many years they made us (women) feel like we had to pretend to be single, pretend to not have a real life, and put our lives on hold to ‘entertain’ the masses. Meanwhile, you feel trapped in your own body, a prisoner to your career, and so unhappy when you supposed to be having the time of your life. @IAmCardiB I am so happy you are free too.”
