Veteran recording artiste Mr Vegas announced last week that he would be turning to God and leaving dancehall sending his fans into a frenzy.

“Thanks to the fans that stood by me through the years. This is the start of a new journey. This is the day that i answered to his call. I have decided to make Jesus my choice. M.V,” Vegas wrote online over the weekend.

However while he has since been making headlines the ‘Jesus Train’ singer says that wasn’t his intentions he also added that he isn’t following Lady Saw. Vegas claims he’s just fulfilling a promise he made to God in prayer over eight months ago, while on a flight to France.

Vegas says while he was on the flight last December he feared his life was going to end on the aircraft and that is one of his biggest fears. He allegedly said a prayer telling God “If you could just let this plane land safely, I am going to serve you in fullness and truth.”

Vegas added that he was going to make the announcement back in December however Lady Saw had received her call form God while attending the funeral service for late Dancehall artiste J Capri and he didn’t want to upstage her.

He says he made the decision a few days ago while listening some gospel songs as he felt connected with God once again. Vegas also made it clear that his highly anticipated ‘This is Dancehall’ album will still be released and he’ll be performing at all shows he was booked for before he made his decision.
