The Ministry of National Security has requested a report into why incarcerated dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel was transferred from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Tuesday.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer, had been transferred from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre to the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in downtown Kingston.

The information was confirmed on Wednesday by the Ministry of National Security’s Permanent Secretary Dionne McIntosh. According to McIntosh, she was informed of the entertainer’s move, but was unsure of the exact reasons behind it.

The Ministry of National Security is reportedly awaiting a detailed report from the Department of Correctional Services, outlining the exact reasons behind the entertainer’s transfer.

Speculations have since emerged that the deejay’s move may have been linked to recent allegations that he may have been recording music while being in prison, a privilege which is not facilitated at the correctional facility.

The allegations were recently highlighted after a fellow dancehall artiste, “Flexx” formerly of the group T.O.K, blasted that Vybz Kartel “shouldn’t be recording music from prison,” and complained about the entertainer’s continued dominance of the airwaves in a television interview.

Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life sentence for the August 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, and is not eligable for parole until serves a minimum 35 years.
