Mavado has managed to stir up quite a bit of controversy following a recent Instagram post.

Some Dancehall fans are now accusing the Gullyside deejay of blasphemy after he recently posted a photo to Instagram which depicted him like the biblical second coming of Jesus Christ.

The “Father Gad” deejay seems to have taken his moniker a bit too far as fans bashed him on social media for the controversial image, which saw him attired in robe surrounded by angels and heaven.

“The only thing that could change me from being a gully fan ?. You trying to say your god or something ?,” one fan asked while another commented, “Why movado wah God fi strike Jamaica… guh write American music now jamaica doh badda want yuh.”

However, despite the backlash, some of the deejay’s more loyal supporters did come to his defense, as one fan expressed “People so brainwashed by the image of white Jesus that they grew up with that they are offended by a black man portrayed as God. Nothing wrong with this take those white people off your wall! Jesus wasn’t European.

The deejay seems to be incorporating a lot of religious themes in his music these days, with several of his most recent hits utilizing that tone including “Father Gad” and “Dancehall Prophecy.”

In recent months the deejay has had to deal with his son being charged for murder as well as cops demanding him to turn himself in for questioning following a flare-up of violence in his hometown of Cassava Piece.
