Investigators have now laid charges against a man in their custody for the gruesome murder of 3-year-old Nevalisa Campbell, in Orange Hil, St Ann.
According to police reports, the 19-year-old suspect Alexus Newland was formally charged with murder on Wednesday.
Newland is accused of chopping 3-year-old Nevalisa to death and tossing her body into a open lot in the Orange Hill community.
Newland is set to appear before the St. Ann Parish Court sometime next week.
The child’s mother and stepfather were also charged with breaches of the childcare and protection act.
