Members of the entertainment industry have reacted to the Jamaican Government’s decision to impose an all-island curfew.
The curfew took effect from Wednesday, April 1, and will last for seven days. The measure is imposed between the hours of 8 pm to 6 am.
The move has since been praised by many as a necessary measure to control the COVID 19 outbreak.
Currently, there are 48 cases and 3 deaths confirmed locally so far. However, Holness warns that the situation could become far worse guidelines are not respected.
Several members of the entertainment have since voiced their opinions, including selector Ricky Trooper. According to Trooper, he supports the move one hundred percent calling it a necessary measure.
“If the Prime Minister see where it ago help control the spread a the coronavirus and mek people nah move up and dung dem hours deh mi all fi it!,” he declared.
“Anything fi control this ting ya, mi love wha the government a do and mi like how dem a deal wid it,” he added.
The restrictions during the curfew will limit all movement of persons except for persons working in essential services. Exempted persons will be required to produce valid identification. There will also be restrictions on public transportation.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement last Monday at Jamaica House. Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force have been given clear instructions to enforce the stipulated restrictions.
