Vybz Kartel could be set to walk a free man after his appeal trial has taken a fresh new twist.
Judges were left bemused following revelations that metadata for one of the damning text messages which prosecutors used to convict Vybz Kartel and co-accused was created six weeks before the alleged murder.
The text message in question was reportedly taken from one of the cellular devices seized from Vybz Kartel, in which stated that Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams had been “chop up fine, fine.”
According to Bianca Samuels, one of the attorneys representing Shawn Storm, the evidence presented during the 2014 murder trial show that the metadata was created on July 6, 2011, a shocking six weeks before prosecutors claim Williams was killed.
Metadata is essentially a summary of the information collected from devices, including time, date created and it’s author.

Samuels also pointed out that there was enough evidence to show that the devices were used while the entertainer was in police custody, creating more than reasonable doubt in the prosecution’s case.
Judges were left stunned following the assertion saying that “Our silence was sharing in your puzzlement.”
The entertainer has long maintained his innocence, and in 2014 claimed d that was being targeted by several influential members of society, including then National Security Minister Peter Bunting for “glorifying scamming.”
Vybz Kartel and his three co-accused Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John were convicted for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. The victim’s body was never found.
