They say not all heroes wear capes, and singer Cherine Anderson is the true definition of this.
In the past 13 years, the “Rebel” singer has managed to assist over 40,000 students across the island and awarded approximately 35 scholarships through her Reach One Child (ROC) Foundation, which is done in partnership with her mentor Patrick Lindsay.
According to Anderson, the ROC scholarship programme initially started with the intent of assisting needy, motivated sixth-grade students throughout their high-school years. However, this quickly shifted as they realized there was a greater need for mentorship and have since organized for school tours with that in mind.

Although she has received significant praise for her role in the programme the Reggae singer does not see herself as a hero as she believes we are all capable of doing the right things.
“It’s really simple. Just decide you want to help someone, and do it. And not because you’ll get attention, a promotion or some public acknowledgment – you just do something good for another person, just like you would want someone to be good to you,” she said.
Cherine Anderson is most popularly known for her hits including “Haffi Come Back,” “Rebel,” and “Coming Over Tonight” with Chuck Fender. She also starred in Jamaican cult classic film Dancehall Queen.
