Caribbean fans have definitely been showing the love to Hip Hop superstar Cardi B following the success of her Chart topping breakout single “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)”.

Many fans fell in love with the former reality star’s hilarious over the top personality following her appearance on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York in 2015 but had no idea that she actually hailed from Caribbean heritage.

Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, was actually born to a Trinidadian mother and a Dominican father and was raised in the Bronx, New York.

The 24-year-old rapper’s connection to the Caribbean is quite evident, as she frequently displays her love for Dancehall and Soca music on her social platforms, sharing tracks from several Caribbean artists with her millions of followers.

Co-incidentally, the rapper’s musical debut actually came on a Dancehall project, as she was first featured on Shaggy’s “Boom Boom” Remix, which also featured Jamaican deejay Popcaan.

Cardi B also collaborated with Konshens and Hood Celebrity earlier this year for “Back It Up”, which was featured on her Gangsta Bitch Vol 2 mixtape.

The rapper recently became the first female solo rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with a debut single since Lauryn Hill’s Doo Wop (That Thing), which topped the chart back in 1998.
