11-year-old Alaya High, also known as Lay Lay, has became the youngest female rapper to sign a record deal with Empire.

High was signed by Empire Distribution, Records and Publishing Inc.

Prior to inking her major record deal, the Houston-native’s fame began on social media when fans shared videos of her spitting G-rated rhymes, while her dad hyped her up as he filmed. Her most-liked clip showcased her freestyling over BlocBoy JB’s “Shoot,” which went viral on Twitter with more than 100,000 retweets. Over time her popularity grew and more eyes saw her talent. Some of those views were from representatives at Empire.
