Dalton Harris has advanced to the last 14 after impressing judges and the voting public in the first live show of the X Factor UK talent competition.

On Saturday the Jamaican singer put on a stunning display to impress both judges, the audience, and ultimately the voting public during the competition’s first live televised section of the show.

The former Digicel Rising Stars winner had the audience eating of his palms with an emotional 90-second performance of David Bowie’s 1971 classic hit single “Life on Mars.”

The performance was enough to see the 24-year-old claim one of the final 14 spots in the talent competition after Trinidadian Olatunje Yearwood and Briton Armstrong Martins were both eliminated.

Harris managed to receive a standing ovation from three of the four judges, who all praised his amazing performance calling it possibly the best vocal display of the night.

According to Harris’  team mentor and judge Louis Tomlinson, “I can comfortably say that was the best vocal of the night. You did an absolutely amazing job. You made me proud, you made yourself proud, you made everyone at home proud. Well done.”

Harris will now advance to the second live show which airs on ITV in the UK this Saturday.
