Incarcerated Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel‘s musical output and social media presence has witnessed a notable reduction since becoming the subject of heavy scrutiny from several government officials and influential personalities.
Fans have noted a visible decline in the social and musical activity of the “Gaza Boss” following controversial allegations that he may recording music in prison. These claims reached a pinnacle after former Member of Parliament, Lisa Hanna, called for the deejay’s music to be banned from local airwaves.
Despite the controversial claims Vybz Kartel’s team have maintained that the deejay is not recording any music in prison, nor does he have any access to devices capable of utilizing social media. According to them, all the deejay’s social media platforms are handled by his team under his directives.

Since the wave of controversy the Commission of Corrections has reportedly stepped up their security measures inside prisons, demanding regular checks and searches in all facilities. They however claim that these measures are not necessarily a result of Vybz Kartel’s situation.
Since the reported clampdown fans have enjoyed very little new musical content from the deejay, with his last release coming in January, “Cool and Deadly,” a collaboration with Ky-mani Marley.Vybz Kartel’s usually busy Instagram account has not also not made any updates in 4 weeks.
