Incarcerated Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel is never one to be silent on social issues, so it wasn’t any surprise with he recently reacted to United States president Donald Trump’s controversial Muslim ban.

Shortly after Trump signed an executive order on Friday which suspended immigration from seven majority Muslim countries into America. The self-proclaimed “Worl Boss” quoted Marcus Garvey saying, “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.”

Kartel wrote, “Ever wonder why hollywood makes all those movies about Spartans,Trojans,Romans,Vikings,European monarchs (such as henry the 8th,William the conquerer, )plus Cowboys and Slavery movies etc?.”

The lengthly post continued by saying, “Similarly, ever wonder why Chinese/Japanese always make old “karate show”/ Confucian type and Dynasty movies? Because as Marcus Garvey said ” a people without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.” A deeper analysis of why history is important was beautifully said by Al-Afgharni on ASIA’S RESPONSE TO IMPERIALISM. Al-Afgharni said “There is no happiness except through nationality, except through language … A people… without literature are a people without language. A PEOPLE WITHOUT HISTORY ARE A PEOPLE WITHOUT GLORY!!!AND PEOPLE WILL LACK HISTORY IF AUTHORITIES DO NOT RISE AMONG THEM, TO PROTECT AND REVIVE THEIR MEMORY OF THEIR HISTORICAL HEROES SO THAT THEY CAN FOLLOW AND FAMILATE.”
