Vybz Kartel’s lawyers have rubbished reports that the deejay is already a free man.
The Dancehall superstar’s attorneys have dispelled rumours claiming a verdict has already arrived in his favour.
According to one of Kartel’s senior attorneys, Valerie Neita-Robertson, there is no truth to the rumours.
“It is nothing but a rumor. We have not got a date for the judgment as yet,” Neita-Robertson reportedly told the STAR.
The announcement will come as a disappointment to many fans who had anticipated an early 2020 release for the deejay.
In the last few days, several reports had emerged claiming the deejay was set to be freed. One report went as far as to claim that inmates at the detention facility where Vybz Kartel is being held were already celebrating.
However, fans were left disappointed to learn the rumours were nothing more than an elaborate hoax.
Despite recent updates of the case being in an “advanced stage,” Dancehall fans seem unconvinced considering the delays.
Some fans have gone on to claim that the deejay is being unlawfully treated, with the unjustified delays.
Vybz Kartel is still awaiting a verdict in his appeal trial, months after the case came to a conclusion.
The deejay is hoping to overturn his life sentence for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
