Vybz Kartel & Alkaline Says They’re Being Targeted By Cops

Vybz Kartel and Alkaline have both expressed concerns over the recent scrutiny facing Dancehall artists from law enforcement officials towards towards their music videos.

Last month cops launched an investigation into several Dancehall music videos, including Alkaline’s “After All” and Vybz Kartel and Masicka’s “Infrared,” to determine if certain aspects of them were actually breaking the law.

Cops were reportedly angered by the gun touting, violent scenarios which were depicted in both Dancehall music videos, and also the unauthorized appearance of several uniformed police personnel and marked vehicles.

However, camps representing the two long time Dancehall rivals have both hit back at the recent criticisms, claiming that their creative freedoms are being attacked by law enforcement officials.

Alkaline’s “After All” video director Jay Will also shared similar concerns in a apology he issued to the police on behalf of himself and the artiste, saying “With respect to the situation surrounding the video, Afterall, which was released on May 18, 2017, and directed by Jay Will, the artiste reserves the right to creative license in expressing the contents of the song artistically with the relevant props.”
