Veteran Entertainer Michael Prophet Is Dead

Veteran Jamaican roots singer Michael Prophet has died at the age of 60.

The singer, whose real name is Michael George Haynes, passed away in London last Saturday following a prolonged battle with cancer.

Prophet, who rose to prominence in the 1980s following the release of his hit single “Gunman” was a stalwart for dancehall and Reggae music on the European scene throughout the years as he constantly appeared on the biggest festivals including Rototom Sunsplash and the Lambeth Country Show.

The singer who originates from Maxfield Avenue in Kingston, Jamaica has been hailed by several producers as a very hard working performer with an amazing voice which did not diminish over time.
