Shawn Storm’s Lawyer Disappointed With Ruling; Tells Entertainer To Stay Strong

Shawn Storm’s lead attorney has expressed disappointment following his appeal dismissal on Friday.

Shawn Storm’s attorney, Bert Samuels, has expressed disappointment after his client’s appeal was dismissed by the Jamaican Court of Appeal. However, he says he is not defeated and is ready for the next appeal step.

“We are disappointed, but we are prepared to go to the Privy Council,” he declared on Friday. “The judgement is about 100 pages and what we received is a summary. We will download it today and stay right here and read it,” he said.

The ruling was handed down at approximately 9:44 am on Friday by a panel of three judges. After the verdict, Samuels offered a few words towards his client saying, “Shawn, if you are listening, stay strong.”

Samuels along with Bianca Samuels, Isat Buchanan, and Daynia Allen comprised the legal team that represented the deejay.

When asked about the timeline for mounting a new appeal to the Privy Council, Samuels said no later than next year. “Definitely towards the end of 2020, but the COVID-19 is an issue which makes so many things unpredictable, but definitely we will be arguing latest 2021. Now, these men have been in custody since 2011 so they are prepared to wait,” he said.

Shawn Storm, whose real name is Shawn Campbell, is serving a life sentence along with Vybz Kartel, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John. The four men were convicted for the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
