Popcaan Pays Emotional Tribute At Ghana’s Slave Castle

Popcaan is paying his respect to our ancestors in Ghana.

The “Unruly Boss” is getting in touch with his African roots with a recent visit to the motherland, Ghana.

Popcaan made sure to pay proper tribute to our African ancestors during a recent visit to Cape Coast Castle.

The deejay took to Instagram to share the location where many slaves were shipped off to the Caribbean and other regions during the slave trade.

“This place and the story about it makes me very sad honestly…. #capecoastcastle GHANA,” Popcaan captioned his post. “Read and educate yourself about your past and history,” he added.

The Dancehall superstar appeared in the video clip dressed in a yellow African print Dashiki with a matching hat and black trousers.

“I went and lay this wreath in memory of my ancestors that was put in these dungeons and ship to Jamaica and other parts of the world,” he shared. “[Ghana] stronger now and also free #capecoastcastle,” Popcaan continued in his second post.

Popcaan seems to feel a special connection to Ghana as earlier this week the deejay announced that had bought a house there.

Last year, the Ghanaian President announced that visa-free travel between Ghana and Jamaica. The proclamation was dubbed the “Year of Return,” which marked 400 years since slaves were shipped from the West African country to other parts of the world.
