Mexico’s Miss World Pageant director murdered

The director of the Miss World pageant in Mexico, Hugo Ruben Castellanos, abducted and murdered in the city of Culiacan in north-eastern Sinaloa state.

According to reports, Castellanos and two other persons were abducted from a bar early on Sunday morning, just hours after he crowned the winner of the Miss Sinaloa contest.

The two other abducted persons were reportedly freed, but Castellanos’ body was later found in a stolen car riddled with bullets.

Police have not yet declared a motive for the killing.
