Opposition Spokesperson on Youth and Culture, Lisa Hanna, was advised by cops on Thursday to take a much needed break from social media as they continue to investigate the multiple death threats she received online since her recent comments relating to Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel.

Hanna has been radio silent for a few days leaving her Instagram account dormant, which is very unusual for her. Her last post made six days ago in St. Vincent and the Grenadines racked up over 3,000 comments after her call for convicted murderer Vybz Kartel be banned for the airwaves in Jamaica.

“Gaza Nation” members flocked her account to leave derogatory comments and send death threats which got the attention of cops. “Threats against any citizen is not something we take lightly and it is information I will be passing on to the team at CTOC to look into,” Assistant Police Commisioner Devon Watkis said.

Head of the Cybercrimes Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Inspector Warren Williams also issued warning to persons on Thursday, letting users know they could be charged under the Cybercrimes Act if they use technology to intimidate others.
