Kendrick Lamar is in a celebratory mood after his album, DAMN, was officially certified double platinum last week.
The Compton rapper had recorded the biggest first-week album sales earlier this year, moving 605,000 units, until he was recently trumped by JAY-Z‘s 4:44, which was certified platinum within the first week.
The “Humble” rapper shared the milestone achievement with his fans while uploading a photo of his double platinum plaque on Instagram, which he received from the Record Industry Association of America, RIAA.
“These murals forever belong to my fans. You’ve always taken my words above and beyond. Around the world and back again. With trust. I am forever grateful. 2x” said the rapper.
DAMN is currently still doing very well on the charts despite being released fourteen weeks ago. Last week the project sold a further 56,000 copies, which is more than most rappers first week sales.
