Vybz Kartel’s incarceration has resulted in a massive increase in the price for bleaching cream in prisons.

According to one prisoner, the Dancehall icon is very influential so its no surprise that fellow inmates want to look like him.

The prisoner added that Bio Claire lightening cream which is sold for around JMD $1,800 on the streets is priced at over $6,00 behind bars due to its high demand. “Kartel is a whole heap a man idol in yah, so every man waan look like him. Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, along with the other men, were convicted of the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. They are all now serving life sentences as a result of the conviction.
