Several prominent disc jocks are now calling for unity among their peers following a recent incident which saw Dancehall superstar Alkaline confront veteran selector Tony Matterhorn for playing a track from a rival artist.

Last weekend Tony social media was set on fire after footage emerged of Dancehall artist Alkaline and his entourage confronting Tony Matterhorn for playing a Vybz Kartel track at his Birthday celebration party in Florida.

Since the incident, several prominent disc jocks have voiced their concern that the Dancehall industry is becoming far too hostile, with several artists using their influence to try to determine who and how selectors play at events.

According to some of the disc jocks, their creativity is being limited and the practice is harming the image of Dancehall culture on a whole.

One popular disc Jock, Kurt Riley, recently voiced his opinion calling the trend a very disturbing one, revealing that it is an open secret of instances where artists have even physically confronted or disrespected disc jocks for playing tracks from rivals.

According to Riley, the only way to truly combat this is for disc jocks to unite and take a stand against an artist who chooses to violate selectors, however, remains very unoptimistic of this ever happening as many disc jocks openly chose to form affiliations with entertainers in hopes of gaining from the affiliation.
