Chris Rock signs $40M deal with Netflix for comedy specials

Comedian Chris Rock has signed $40 million deal with Netflix for two brand new comedy specials, his first in eight years.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the legendary comedian signed the deal with Netflix for two stand up comedy specials, making him the highest paid stand up comedian of all time. The first of the two comedy specials will reportedly be taped in 2017.

The deal marks the first time in eight years that Rock has returned to do a stand up comedy special.

“Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand up makes him comic royalty,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. “There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent.”
